Fiskars Easy Action Razor Sharp Rag Quilt Snips| Add a Review
What You Get
Did you know that you can use any of my applique patterns to make an easy rag quilt? There's a tutorial here showing how.
The only special tool you'll need is these scissors. You can use regular scissors, but I don't recommend it. Regular scissors are not really designed for this kind of snipping through just the edge of very thick layers of fabric and it puts a lot of strain on your hand and wrist. But these scissors are designed just for that!
Here's what makes them awesome. . .
- They have a spring action, so their default setting is open, which saves a surprising amount of strain on your wrist. Our hands are designed for squeezing - not pulling scissors open. We can do it, but pulling scissors open over and over (and over and over) again is really hard.
- They’re super sharp, so they had no trouble cutting through SIX layers of flannel.
- The blades are slightly serrated, so they really grip the fabric well, allowing you to cut right up to the tips of the blades without “pushing” the fabric out at all.
- The handles use Fiskars "softgrip" so they're very comfortable.
Using these scissors I was able to ship all the seams in a nap-sized quilt in about two hours. I tried several different brands and styles and these were BY FAR the best.
