Mix & Match Monsters Quilt Pattern
The Mix & Match Monsters pattern is so much more than just a pattern.
What do you get?
The templates for SO MANY MONSTER PARTS! Seriously – there are 24 pages jam-packed with templates for bodies, eyes, mouths, fins, feathers, hands, tentacles, antennae, stripes, spots and more – all sized to work together. You can make a kajillion monsters and never have a repeat.
(Ok – I know kajillion isn’t a real number, but I’ve made over 100 different monsters and I’m nowhere near running out of possible combinations.)
This is exclusively available as a PDF pattern, delivered instantly. No shipping costs and no waiting! (If you're not sure what a PDF pattern is, you'll find more info here.)
Want to see how it works? Here’s a little video I put together walking you through some sample blocks.
In addition to the templates, there are links to videos teaching you three different appliqué techniques - needle turn, machine appliqué, and appliqué with fusible adhesive. It also has links to nine additional lessons showing how to add sashing, 3D bits, faux trapunto, and fancy fabrics like fur, fleece, satin and shiny tissue lamé!
I used appliqué with fusible adhesive and Quilt As You Go to make a super easy quilt - almost all done on the machine.

Size
Each block finishes at 10 inches square. The pattern includes detailed instructions for the following sizes. . .
- crib (52.5" wide x 57.5" tall)
- napping (52.5" wide x 69" tall) - this is my favorite size for on the couch
- twin (75" wide x 92" tall)
You can also use the monster patterns for lots of other projects, like wall hangings, table runners, placemats, and more.
Difficulty
I designed this quilt to teach appliqué – so it’s great for beginners, and a fun and relaxing project for more experienced stitchers. If you can use your sewing machine, you have the skills you need to make this cuddly monster quilt.
I used appliqué with fusible adhesive and Quilt As You Go to make a super easy quilt - almost all done on the machine. The pattern also includes links to videos teaching needle turn appliqué and machine appliqué with freezer paper, in case you prefer those methods.
You can find links to sources for many of my favorite tools and supplies here.
