Lizzie - Dress Up Bunch rag doll pattern

Easy!

Lizzie! Lizzie loves to play outside - especially in the woods where she may spot some wild animals. She can identify lots of tracks!

Her favorite book is Julie of the Wolves and her favorite food is granola - but only if it has M&Ms in it. :-)

Lizzie is one of The Dress Up Bunch and can share clothes with everyone else in the group. Fun! She has weighted hands and feet for excellent flop, arms and legs that will go in any direction for great play and easy dressability, and plenty of cuteness! She's also very easy to make. 😁

Please note - this pattern is just for the doll. None of the clothes you see in the photos are included, but there's a free pattern here for Play Clothes (a shirt and pair of shorts), and one here for an easy skirt.

This is exclusively available as a PDF pattern, delivered instantly and ready to print onto letter-size paper. No shipping costs and no waiting!

Pattern Details

You Get. . .

  • A digital pattern delivered by email. (If you're not sure what a PDF pattern is, you'll find more info here.)
  • full-sized pattern for Lizzie – no enlarging needed
  • detailed instructions and lots of step by step photos – you’ll never feel lost or wonder if you’re doing it right

Size

Lizzie is 17 inches tall from head to toe – 11 inches when sitting.

Difficulty

Lizzie is very easy to make – a great project for beginners. All the parts are nice and roomy for easy turning and stuffing, they all tuck easily inside the body for the final assembly, and there’s a nice straight back seam for turning and stuffing that’s easy to sew up by hand. If you know how to use your sewing machine you can make Lizzie.

Materials Needed

You can find links to sources for many of my favorite tools and supplies here.

You'll Need. . .

  • 1/2 yard skin-colored fabric
  • 1 sheet wool felt (Lizzie's hair is Ruby Red Slippers)
  • black embroidery thread for the face
  • plastic pellets (I like PolyPellets Weighted Stuffing Beads)
  • polyfill stuffing (I like Soft Touch Polyfil Supreme Fiberfill)
  • two 9 mm safety eyes

Cute a a button

I made Lizzie for my granddaughter, along with her camping outfit. Since my g/d has a special love for sleeping bags (?!), I was just going to just make that, thinking she has many dolls that would be a good fit already. But I decided to make Lizzie & was glad I did. Also glad I reviewed the inserting eye link. I thought I ‘knew it all’ but saw the tip about adding the felt circle and this was very helpful. I did leave the tops of the arms & legs empty, but found I had stuffed the bottoms too much. This meant it was harder to sew than it needed to be and also clothes were a little hard to get on. I even had to open up the shirt seam a bit. When I make Lizzie a friend I’ll make sure to lighten up a bit in this regard. Most importantly, my g/d really loves her Lizzie!

Endless fun!

A longtime quilter this was my first stuffie for my 3 year old granddaughter.
I found the directions easy to follow and fun. My granddaughter has had so much fun with Lizzie, I have made matching outfits for them both and get frequent requests for new clothes.
