What you get+-

Make a sweet skunk with this easy applique pattern.

I showed sample blocks realistic black and white, as well as some fantasy colors. If you use black fabric for the face it can be tricky to make the eyes show up - but the pattern includes a link to a tutorial showing you how to do it.

This applique pattern would be a great addition to the Woodland Critters quilt pattern. I've had a ton of requests for that!

The pattern also has links to additional free patterns for tote bags, pillows, wall hangings, and more projects perfect for using a single applique pattern. There's also a link to a free workshop teaching how to make a quilt using Quilt As You Go and applique with fusible adhesive. You can work through the lessons using any applique pattern - including this one - and make a quilt any size you like!

    Size

The block finishes at 10" square.

        Difficulty

This is an easy project - great for beginners - especially if you don't make the face black.

I used appliqué with fusible adhesive and Quilt As You Go to make a super easy quilt - all done on the machine. The pattern also includes links to videos teaching needle turn appliqué and machine appliqué with freezer paper, in case you prefer those methods.

        What You Need+-

For a single block you'll just need an 11" square of fabric and some scraps for the applique. You'll also need a sheet of fusible adhesive. I use Heat & Bond Lite for all my quilts.

If you're making a quilt in one of my standard sizes, here are recommended fabric amounts needed.

        Crib Size (50" square)

        • 3 yards of a variety of background fabrics
        • assorted prints for the appliques (get at least 7 fat quarters, but you’ll probably want more for variety)
        • 2 1/2 yards fabric for the quilt back (or 1 1/2 yards Cuddle Fleece)
        • 1/2 yard binding fabric

        Napping Size (50" x 60")

        • 3 1/3 yards of a variety of background fabrics
        • assorted prints for the appliques (get at least 8 fat quarters, but you’ll probably want more for variety)
        • 4 yards fabric for the quilt back (or 2 yards Cuddle Fleece)
        • 1/2 yard binding fabric

        Twin Size (70" x 90")

        • 7 yards of a variety of background fabrics
        • assorted prints for the appliques (get at least 16 fat quarters, but you’ll probably want more for variety)

        • 5/8 yard binding fabric

You can find amounts needed and cutting instructions for additional sizes here.

You might also want. . .

        Great Applique pattern

I've bought many of these patterns because they are
so cute and easy to put together. I sell my quilts at
craft shows to help get orphans a school, and so many
customers love these animals with the happy faces.
The color combinations are also very attractive. Thank you!

        Wendi,
I have been a “ customer, follower, admirer” for a long time. I have renewed my subscription each year to continue having access to your precious patterns. After you changed the format ( not sure of correct term), I have been unable to download any patterns. I am not sure what to do. It goes to a page saying you do not have any info for me. Hellp, please. I am behind on downloading. E Ann Ryan.
