Buttonholes Quilt Pattern

Super Easy!

This is a perfect quilt for a beginning quilter. And it's a really fun and relaxing project for an experienced quilter. Everyone wins!

What makes it so easy? It's all straight lines. No diagonals, no points, no curves. Just nice straight lines. Easy to cut and easy to sew.

I designed the quilt to be forgiving of small errors. Relax! Your seam allowance isn't exactly 1/4 inch? That's ok. Your seams don't match up? Impossible - there are no places for your seams to match up. I planned it special that way. :-)

This is exclusively available as a PDF pattern, delivered instantly and ready to print onto letter-size paper. No shipping costs and no waiting!

Pattern Details

You Get. . .

  • Detailed instructions and lots of step by step photos showing you exactly what you need to do every step of the way - including how to efficiently cut out your fabric. You’ll never feel lost or wonder if you’re doing it right.
  • Quilt diagrams, specific yardage requirements and cutting instructions for four common quilt sizes. None of this "easily sizes up or down" nonsense! Do you want to do math or do you want to make a quilt? I thought so.
  • Instructions for optional fancy schmancy pieced quilt backs
  • Instructions for how you can make it scrappy. Beginning scrap hoarders can replace just the fat quarters with scraps. If your scraps are taking over all available space in your sewing room, you can use scraps for the whole dang thing! I include instructions for both situations. :-)
  • Instructions for assembling the quilt – layering, basting, quilting and binding – with links to videos for all of them.
  • Links to videos teaching you all the skills you’ll need to complete the project. It’s a workshop disguised as a pattern!

Size

The pattern includes instructions for four common sizes. . .

  • Napping (66.5" wide x 70" tall)
  • Twin (66.5" wide x 87.5" tall)
  • Queen (84″ wide x 94.5″ tall)
  • King (101.5" wide x 94.5" tall)

    Difficulty

Super easy! I link to videos throughout the pattern for all the skills you'll need to complete the project - from using rotary cutting tools to sewing a straight line, layering, basting, quilting, and binding. I don't care if you've never even used a sewing machine before - you can totally make this quilt!

    Wonderful pattern

This is a great tutorial for a modern quilt that a beginner can work with. The result is absolutely wonderful. I made it for my son in 2019. This year I even expanded it from queen to king size. It was hard work but it worked well since I still had leftover fabric. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the enlarged quilt. But my son and his Girlfriend love it. I would do one again at any time it was fun.
