Printed Quilt Blocks
I love to quilt my blocks without doing any marking first. It's like doodling on the sewing machine!
But not everyone thinks that's fun. :-)
And not everyone likes choosing colors for a quilt!
If that's you - I've got you covered. Now you can get quilt blocks in a carefully chosen color palette, all with the quilting lines pre-printed on them!
When you go to the collection on Spoonflower, you'll see all the different color palettes you can choose from.
Your blocks will come on a yard of fabric. Pop it in the washer and dryer, cut the blocks apart, layer with some batting, and quilt right on the lines!
Easy peasy!
No fraying and twisting in the wash.
No measuring needed.
The blocks are all 12 inches square - perfect for using with almost any Shiny Happy World pattern with almost no waste.
The button takes you directly to this collection on Spoonflower so you can shop directly from them. They have frequent sales, so be sure to check the header at the top of the site to see what's currently discounted.
You can choose between several different base fabrics. Below I have details about my two favorites.
Both types will be very crisp when they arrive. Just like any fabric, I highly recommend pre-washing before you use it. It softens up beautifully.
Petal Signature Cotton
Petal Signature Cotton is a high quality quilting cotton with a thread count of 120.
When you use it for raw-edge applique with fusible adhesive, you'll get a nice, soft frayed edge - but it won't fray past your stitching line.
The printable width is 42 inches, so you'll get 9 full blocks and 3 half blocks (perfect for names, dates, animal sounds and cute extras) in each yard.
Organic Cotton Sateen
Organic Cotton Sateen is a very high quality fabric. The thread count is a whopping 220 and it's smoother and slightly lighter weight than the Petal Signature Cotton.
When you use it for raw-edge applique with fusible adhesive, you'll get almost no fraying. (You can see the results of my testing here.)
The printable width is 56 inches, so you'll get 12 full blocks and 3 slightly-bigger-than-half blocks in each yard.
It can be so hard to match colors on a computer screen, so I've created these palettes to coordinate perfectly.
Gemstones
These are exactly the same colors as the Gemstone Blenders collection and the Monster Monster collection - bright clear tertiary colors. You'll find collections of blocks in dark, medium, and light palettes.
Animal Kingdom
These are exactly the same colors the Animal Kingdom Blenders collection - neutral greys and browns with a rust and gold added to the mix.
The Shades of Grey bundle is just grey blocks, ranging from almost white to almost black.
Farmers Market
These are exactly the same colors as the Farmers Market blenders collection - a softer, slightly desaturated rainbow. You'll find collections of blocks in dark, medium, and light palettes.
Classic Rainbow
These are exactly the same colors as the Classic Rainbow Blenders - very bright pure hues - especially the medium shades. You'll find collections of blocks in dark, medium, and light palettes.
Sea Breeze
These are exactly the same colors as the Sea Breeze Blenders - soft, desaturated colors like the faded, bleached, salt-encrusted colors you see at the beach. You'll find collections of blocks in dark, medium, and light shades.
Below you'll find yardage suggestions for all my quilt sizes. (You can find more info about all my different quilt sizes here.)
